The native woodlands are richest habitats in biodiversity of Britain. Around 95% of these natural areas have been lost to agriculture, built up areas and other productive land use. Planting new areas of woodland not only restores lost nature but acts as a sink for carbon dioxide which is converted into he carbon in the trees and soil.
We manage projects directly with private landowners in Scotland, Wales and England, funding the planting of new native woodland areas on agricultural land, with the object of sequestering carbon dioxide into the trees and soil. Permanence of the forests is assured through effective legal protection of woodland areas in the UK. We are careful to select projects that are primarily concerned with sequestering carbon, or that would not occur without the funding provided by offset money.
