How is your carbon footprint calculated?

To calculate your annual carbon footprint, we will require your figures related to greenhouse gas emissions, most of which can be collated from your financial reporting documentation. A visit to your company is not normally required, but will be arranged if preferred.

The figures normally required are the annual figures for:

• Electricity consumption, in kWh (kiloWatt hours or units)
• Heating, gas or oil, in kWh or litres or therms
• Vehicle mileage or litres consumed for different categories of vehicle
• Travel mileage on bus or train
• Air travel by destinations (or mileage if known)
• Other sources of emissions, for example from industrial processes, can be incorporated. Similarly, for other greenhouse gases, we will calculate the equivalent in tonnes of carbon dioxide.
• Greenhouse gas emissions are measured in standard units of tCO₂e or tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

For our basic service of calculating your greenhouse gas emissions in tCO₂e, using data provided by you, the cost is £175 + VAT for the first year.
For subsequent years the current cost is £58 + VAT.

For more complex auditing where we collate data from sources on your behalf, a cost based on an hourly rate will be quoted. If you wish to calculate your emissions, we recommend using the government's 'Guidelines to DEFRA's GHG conversion factors for company reporting'.
